  1. Learn about best evidence to inform clinical decisions


2. Learn about important new evidence that should change practice

Get started! 

  1. Pick article that is a POEM!
    1. Is it relevant, potential to change practice?
    2. BBs for Chest Pain with recent cocaine
  2. Skip abstract!
  3. Read title, primary objectives
  4. Methods, study design, validity
  5. Results: go straight to tables, figures
    1. Table 1-very important; sets the stage
    2. Come up with your own conclusion
    3. Then go back to text to clarify
  6. Please include a brief explanation of a statistical concept in your presentation
  7. See if there is an editorial! Read it AFTER you’ve done your own critique
  8. Newsworthy? What’s the buzz? Check reputable medical websites to view discussion on issue (ie. www.medscape.com, www.theheart.org)
  9. Always pull the supplementary material-there is a lot of information there! Easy to hide info here.
